Register FIR Against Kangana Ranaut for Tweet on Farmers protest: Karnataka Court

Shri Vinod Balnaik, a Judicial Magistrate in a Karnataka Court has ordered the local Police to register an FIR against actress Kangana Ranaut for her tweet on the farmers’ protest.

An Advocate Mr Ramesh Naik found the tweet derogatory and filed a complaint.

On 21.09.2020 the actress’s team had tweeted that People who are spreading false information about the farmer’s protest were the same people who had spread fake information about the CAA and riots were caused because of the misinformation. Ms Ranaut further called such people terrorists.

In his complaint, Mr Naik stated that the tweet might cause clashes between groups who have different ideologies about the farmers’ protest. He further stated that the government has been unable to regulate such content and that there should be some guidelines on the subject.

The complainant also stated that if such content is allowed on social media platforms, then it might cause irreparable damage to the farmers of the country.

He further argues that people who are posting such comments or are promoting it should be prosecuted underSections 44,108,153,153A and 504 

The complainant, Mr Naik, urged the court to register FIR against Miss Ranaut and take cognizance of the offence.
