The High Court of Orissa has designated ten advocates as Senior Advocates in exercise of its powers under the Advocates Act, 1961. The notification, issued on February 10, 2026, follows the procedure laid down in the High Court of Orissa (Designation of Senior Advocate) Rules, 2025.
According to Notification No. 109 dated February 10, 2026, the designation was made by the Chief Justice of the High Court of Orissa pursuant to Advertisement No. 01/2025. The Court exercised its authority under Section 16 of the Advocates Act, 1961, read with Rule 7(1) of the High Court of Orissa (Designation of Senior Advocate) Rules, 2025.
The designation of Senior Advocate is a privilege conferred upon advocates by the High Court or the Supreme Court, recognizing their ability, standing at the Bar, or special knowledge or experience in law.

The notification, signed by the Registrar General on February 10, 2026, has been forwarded to the Secretary General of the Supreme Court of India, Registrar Generals of all High Courts across the country, the Bar Council of India, and the Odisha State Bar Council, among other statutory bodies and tribunals.
This designation recognizes the professional standing and expertise of these advocates within the legal fraternity of Odisha. Copies of the notification were also sent to various tribunals including the Industrial Tribunal, Odisha Sales Tax Tribunal, and the State Cooperative Tribunal for information and necessary action.
