Mumbai court has convicted two individuals in connection with the 2018 murder of a salon employee, Kriti Vyas, who has been missing since March 16, 2018. Despite extensive investigations, her body has yet to be recovered.
Kriti Vyas, a 28-year-old finance manager at a salon, was reported missing by her family at the D.B. Marg police station after she failed to return home. The initial investigation included scrutiny of CCTV footage from Grant Road and Mumbai Central railway stations, revealing that Vyas boarded a suburban train from Grant Road to Virar at 9:11 AM on the day she disappeared. The case was later escalated to the Crime Branch, which resulted in the arrest of Siddhesh Tamhankar, the salon’s account executive, and Khushi Sahajwani, the account manager.
The court found both Tamhankar and Sahajwani guilty under Section 302 (murder) and Section 201 (destruction of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code, among other charges.
The breakthrough in the case came when forensic tests on bloodstains found in the accused’s car matched Vyas’s DNA. The police stated that the car was allegedly used to commit the crime.
