In a significant ruling, the Sohagpur Second Additional Sessions Court in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh, has sentenced 22-year-old Kishan, also known as Chhinu Machhiya, to death for the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl. This judgement was issued under the strict provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The district prosecution officer, Rajkumar Nema, relayed that Judge Suresh Kumar Choubey, in his verdict, referenced the Ramcharit Manas, emphasizing that the rape of any innocent child is a heinous and extraordinarily grave incident. The court classified this case as “rarest of the rare,” a criterion for capital punishment in India.
The case details reveal a chilling sequence of events where the young victim disappeared from her home on December 25, 2021. Her body was later discovered on a rooftop, with evidence suggesting she had been sexually assaulted and strangled. Further investigation led to Machhiya after the victim’s brother testified that Machhiya had been present on the roof during the time of the girl’s disappearance and had coerced him to leave the scene.
The conviction was solidified by DNA evidence, which matched samples found at the crime scene with the accused, sealing the case for the prosecution.
