In a significant development in the field of legal education, the Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University in Prayagraj has officially commenced operations. The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marking a new era for legal studies in the region.
The prestigious event, held at the Allahabad Medical Association Hall on Friday, saw the participation of notable figures from the judiciary, including Supreme Court and Allahabad High Court judges, senior advocates, and other dignitaries from the legal fraternity. The university, which is currently operating from a temporary location in Fafamau due to ongoing construction at the main campus in Jhalwa, has already welcomed its first batch of students for the five-year integrated BA LLB program through the CLAT examination for the academic session 2024-25.
Constructed on the model of the National Law University, Bangalore, the new law university in Prayagraj aims to provide top-notch legal education and research facilities. The first batch comprises 56 students who have secured their admission through the competitive CLAT examination, setting the stage for a promising start to their legal careers.
