“I am Alive” 11-Year-Old Boy told Supreme Court

In a shocking turn of events, an 11-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit stated before the Supreme Court through a Petition in his own murder trial that he is alive. The boy, Abhai Kumar, claimed in the Petition Filed Through his Maternal Grandfather that his father had falsely accused his grandfather and uncles in a fake murder case.

The Supreme Court has entertained the boy’s petition and has ordered that no coercive steps be taken against the accused until further notice. Notices have been issued to the state government, Pilibhit SP, and the station house officer of Neuria police station in connection with the case.

As per reports the boy had been living with his maternal grandfather since 2013, following his mother’s death due to injuries sustained from alleged domestic violence. The grandfather had filed an FIR against his son-in-law for dowry death, leading to a bitter legal battle between the two sides.

Abhai’s father had accused the boy’s grandfather and maternal uncles of his murder, resulting in a case being lodged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The Allahabad High Court dismissed the petition to quash the FIR, leading the family to bring the case to the Supreme Court.

The case is set to be heard in January 2024.
