DNA Test Confirms Connection of Co-Accused in Ayodhya Rape Case

In a significant development in the Ayodhya rape case, the DNA of the aborted foetus has been confirmed to match with Raju, an employee and co-accused under SP leader Moeed Ahmad. The findings were part of a report submitted to the Allahabad High Court by the Uttar Pradesh government on Monday.

The case, which has garnered significant attention, involves the rape of a 12-year-old girl who subsequently became pregnant and underwent an abortion. Raju, along with his employer, bakery owner Moeed Ahmad, was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police on July 30 from the Pura Kalandar area of Ayodhya district.

The DNA results came to light during a court session where the Lucknow bench, presided over by Justice Pankaj Bhatia, was reviewing a bail plea filed by Ahmad. The court’s proceedings revealed that while Ahmad’s DNA did not match that of the foetus, the genetic material of his servant Raju was a match.

Justice Bhatia has taken the DNA report into record and scheduled the next hearing for October 3. Ahmad, 71, has contended that his arrest was politically motivated, an argument that the state’s counsel vigorously contested citing the grave nature of the case and the victim’s minor status.
