District Judiciary is Backbone, Should Not be Called as Subordinate Judiciary: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Friday stated that district judiciary should not be called as “Subordinate Judiciary”. The bench of CJI. Dr Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, V. Ramasubramanian and Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha stated that “It must be remembered the judges are not employees of the State but are holders of public office who wield sovereign judicial power.
