A Delhi court has officially acknowledged a supplementary charge sheet submitted by Delhi Police, which implicates six individuals under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in relation to a security breach at the Parliament last year. This incident coincided with the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, marking a significant breach in security protocols.
Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur affirmed on Saturday that the evidence presented was ample to proceed with the case against the accused: Manoranjan D, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde, Mahesh Kumawat, Sagar Sharma, and Neelam Azad. The judge has extended their judicial custody until September 9, the next scheduled date for a court hearing.
The police’s charge sheet, a voluminous document spanning approximately 1000 pages, details the actions of the accused during the incident. Notably, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D were involved in a dramatic episode where they leapt into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery. They discharged yellow gas from canisters and vocalized slogans, which resulted in their immediate restraint by attending MPs.
Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad were implicated in similar activities outside the Parliament premises, where they deployed colored gas and shouted “tanashahi nahi chalegi” (dictatorship will not prevail), amplifying the disruption.
