As per the Consortium of National Law Universities notification, the Common Law Admission Test 2021 (CLAT)will be held on 9th May, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the date might get revised.
Online Applications for CLAT 2021 will be available from 1sy January, and the last date of submission of online applications is 31.03.2020.
Students who have scored 45% or high in their Class 12 board exam can sit for the exam. For students who belong to the SC/ST category, the cut off is 40%.
For general category students, the application fee is Rs 4000, and for students from SC/ST categories, the fee is set at Rs. 3500.
Earlier this year, the CLAT exam was scheduled on 7th September, but it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The CLAT 2020 exam finally took place on 28.09.2020.
In September 2020 the Delhi High Court had dismissed a plea wherein permission for conducting a home-based CLAT exam was sought. The Court held that a home-based exam would not be appropriate for more than 78000 candidates who were supposed to take the exam. Hon’ble Justice Jayant Nath noted that there was a possibility that the exam might be compromised as well.
Back in September, the Consortium of National Law University had made it clear that students infected with Covid-19 or were under medical surveillance will not be allowed to sit for CLAT 2020.
However, The Supreme Court allowed Covid infected students to sit for the exam in an isolation room and directed all examination centres to provide isolation rooms.
For CLAT 2021, Dr Vijendra Kumar( VC of Maharashtra NLU) was elected as the Convener.
