In a significant development late Thursday evening, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Despite repeated summons from the ED, Kejriwal had not appeared before the agency and had sought protection from arrest in the Delhi High Court.
The High Court on Thursday refused to grant interim protection to Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam, rejecting his plea for “no coercive action” by the ED.
Following the Delhi High Court’s decision not to provide relief from arrest, an ED team visited Kejriwal’s residence for questioning. Subsequently, the Delhi Chief Minister was taken into custody by the agency.
