On Thursday, the Patna High Court remarked that the biggest challenge before the State Government was to change the mindset of the population of Bihar and break the myth that ‘Bihar has eaten up Corona’ ( Bihar Corona ko Kha Gaya).
The aforesaid remark was made by the Bench comprising Hon’ble Justice Sanjay Karol and Hon’ble Justice S Kumar when they were hearing a batch of petitions that sought directions to protect people handling the deadly virus and to ensure the creation of infrastructure to deal with the Covid -19 pandemic.
However, during the hearing, the Court was informed that the Supreme Court has seized the matter and was comprehensively dealing with the issue, and maybe, the subject matter of the instant lis.
After this submission, the Advocate General submitted that he would find out if the issues of the present writs were also the subject matter of the cases pending before the Apex Court and will inform the Court if they should pursue the instant writs or not.
Observation of the Court
It was observed that Bihar was very populated and had the highest population in the country; therefore all the health policies and programmes made by the Center should be highlighted and popularised in the State in both rural and urban areas.
The AG then informed the Court that the State government was already trying to sensitize the people of the State.
In this regard, the Hon’ble Court opined that the State government should use all modes of communication and to apprise people about the benefits of wearing masks, social distancing and taking precautions to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Case was adjourned:
As the AG requested that the matter should be adjourned, the Court listed the matter on 08.12.2020.
