On Thursday, the Chief Judicial Magistrate(Alibaug) rejected the application by Arnab Goswami exemption from physical appearance in the suicide case of interior designer Anvay Naik.
Earlier, CJM had asked Arnab Goswami to appear before the Court on 7th January; however, he remained absent.
The Counsel for Goswami prayed the Court to exempt Goswami from physical appearance due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
The counsel further submitted that Arnab Goswami was currently in Delhi, and due to the quarantine rules and the pandemic situation, it would be unsafe for Arnab to travel.
However, the Special Public Prosecutor opposed the application and urged the Court to issue a non-bailable warrant against Goswami. An application to that effect was also filed in the Court by the prosecutor.
