The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to three youths allegedly involved in the violent clashes that erupted in Sambhal on November 24 last year.
Justice Dr. Gautam Chaudhary, while hearing the bail applications, ordered the release of Faizan, Shane Alam, and Mohammad Rihan. The incident had turned deadly during a court-ordered survey of the Mughal-era Shahi Jama Masjid in the Kot Garvi area of Sambhal, leaving four dead and several injured amid confrontations between locals and security personnel.
The prosecution alleged that an FIR had been registered against 700-800 unidentified persons after violence broke out, during which a firearm was discharged and a police official sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

However, counsel for the applicants argued that no specific role was attributed to the three youths. It was further submitted that the injury suffered by the police personnel was on a non-vital part of the body and did not endanger life. The applicants also assured the court of their willingness to cooperate with the legal process and comply with any conditions imposed.
The defence highlighted that the accused had been in custody since November 28, 2024, with no prior criminal history.
“Considering the overall facts and circumstances, the nature of allegations, the gravity of offence and without expressing any opinion on merits, this court finds it to be a fit case for bail,” the court observed.
