Recently, the Supreme Court noted that contempt jurisdiction is always discretionary and should be exercised sparingly. Observing thus, the Bench ruled that Sir Sri Maa Kamakhya Temple Management matter is not a fit case to exercise jurisdiction by punishing Kamakhya Debutter Board members or to direct the Board to return the money they allegedly misappropriated.
