The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a court reader attached to the court of an Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) at the Tis Hazari Courts complex in Delhi for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe to facilitate the allowance of a bail application.
The arrest followed a complaint alleging that the accused, identified as the Reader to ASJ-02 at Tis Hazari Courts, had demanded a bribe of ₹30,000 from a complainant. The illegal gratification was allegedly sought in exchange for facilitating the grant of bail for the complainant’s client.

According to the CBI, the agency registered the instant case on April 23, 2026, acting on the specific allegations made in the complaint.
Following the registration of the case, the CBI laid a trap on April 23, 2026. During the operation, the accused was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting ₹20,000 from the complainant. This amount was reportedly a part-payment of the total bribe demand of ₹30,000.
The CBI stated that the accused person was taken into custody immediately following the successful trap operation.
In its official statement, the CBI underscored its “firm commitment to curbing corruption” among public servants. The agency urged citizens who encounter instances of corruption or are subjected to bribe demands by public officials to report such matters.
The CBI highlighted that complaints can be lodged at the Office of the CBI, Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Delhi, or via their designated helpline numbers (011-24367887 and 9650394847).
The agency confirmed that further investigation into the matter is currently underway to uncover all aspects of the case.
