SC Collegium Recommends New Judges in Four High Courts

New Delhi, September 15, 2025: The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on 15 September 2025, recommended a series of judicial appointments and confirmations in the High Courts of Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Madras, and Tripura.

Karnataka High Court

The Collegium recommended the appointment of Justice Kurubarahalli Venkataramareddy Aravind, presently serving as an Additional Judge, as a Permanent Judge of the Karnataka High Court.

It further recommended the elevation of three Judicial Officers as Judges of the Karnataka High Court:

Himachal Pradesh High Court

Two Advocates have been recommended for appointment as Judges of the Himachal Pradesh High Court:

  • Shri Jiya Lal Bhardwaj
  • Shri Romesh Verma

Madras High Court

The Collegium also recommended that two Additional Judges be made Permanent Judges of the Madras High Court:

  • Justice N. Senthilkumar
  • Justice G. Arul Murugan

Tripura High Court

For the High Court of Tripura, the Collegium recommended the appointment of Justice Biswajit Palit, an Additional Judge, as a Permanent Judge.

The recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai, will now be sent to the Union Government for approval and formal notification. The Collegium’s role is pivotal in ensuring the appointment and elevation of judges across High Courts and the Supreme Court.
