Woman Judge in Madhya Pradesh Receives ₹500 Crore Extortion Demand, Death Threat

Rewa, Madhya Pradesh – A Judicial Magistrate posted in Rewa district has received a speed-post letter demanding ₹500 crore and threatening her life if the money was not paid, police confirmed on Thursday.

The letter, addressed to Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mohini Bhadauria at Teonthar court near the Madhya Pradesh–Uttar Pradesh border, was delivered two days ago. Rewa Superintendent of Police Vivek Singh said, “The sender identified himself as a notorious dacoit and threatened to eliminate her if the money was not paid. Based on a complaint, Suhagi police has registered a case under Section 308 (extortion) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.”

According to investigators, the letter instructed the judge to personally deliver the money in Baraga, Banda district, Uttar Pradesh, by the evening of September 1. Police sources claimed the sender identified himself as Sandeep Singh, a resident of Lohgara under Bara police station in Prayagraj district, and alleged member of dacoit Hanuman’s gang.
