Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna has once again moved the Karnataka High Court seeking bail in the ongoing sexual assault and rape case filed against him. The matter was heard on Tuesday, but the court reserved its decision for a later date.
This is Revanna’s second attempt to secure bail in the high-profile case. His earlier plea was rejected by the court on grounds of the serious nature of the allegations and the potential threat of witness tampering.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Senior Advocate Prabhuling K. Navadgi, appearing for Revanna, submitted that there had been a significant change in circumstances since the last order. He pointed to procedural delays before the trial court as a compelling reason to reconsider bail.

Navadgi also questioned the timing of the complaint, noting it was lodged four years after the alleged incidents. He argued that charges under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (rape) were only added later during the survivor’s statement and were not part of the original complaint. He further stated that Revanna has no intent to derail the judicial process and that continued incarceration amid delays is unjustified.
The state government, however, opposed the plea, contending that delays in the proceedings were caused by Revanna himself. Government counsel alleged that the MP had been summoning numerous defence witnesses and disrupting court procedures, thereby contributing to the sluggish pace of the trial.
After considering the arguments from both sides, the bench adjourned the matter and said it would announce its decision on the bail application at a later date.
