A businessman from Jodhpur has lodged a police complaint alleging he was cheated of ₹65 lakh by two individuals who falsely claimed they had direct connections with judges of the Supreme Court and Rajasthan High Court and could manipulate court judgments.
The complainant, Gautamchand Gulecha, a resident of Kamla Nehru Nagar, filed an FIR at the Sardarpura police station against Sunder Lal Malu and Gordhan Singh Bhati. According to the FIR, the accused convinced him that they had access to the Chief Justice of India and several Rajasthan High Court judges. To support their claims, they even showed Gulecha photographs purportedly taken with members of the judiciary.
Gulecha stated that the alleged fraud began around four years ago when he was introduced to the accused through an acquaintance named Manohar Lal Panwar. In September 2021, Malu and Bhati met Gulecha at a hotel in Jodhpur, where they claimed they could influence the outcome of a court case concerning his firm, RK Industries, related to a land dispute with RIICO.
Trusting their assurances, Gulecha made a series of payments totaling ₹65 lakh. As per his statement, ₹11 lakh was transferred via RTGS to Malu’s account on September 22, 2021, followed by another ₹5 lakh the next day. On October 4, ₹10 lakh in cash was sent to Jaipur. Over the following months, an additional ₹39 lakh was allegedly handed over in installments. The accused reportedly issued receipts and promised to return the money if they failed to deliver the promised result.
However, when the case did not resolve in his favor, Gulecha realized he had been misled. Repeated demands for a refund were met with delays and excuses, and the accused eventually refused to return the money. This led him to approach the police and formally register the complaint.
