Senior Advocate Vikas Singh has been elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for the fourth time, reaffirming his prominent stature in the apex court’s legal fraternity.
Singh, a former Additional Solicitor General of India, previously served as SCBA President in the years 2018, 2021, and 2022–23. In the latest election, he defeated senior advocates Adish C Aggarwala and Pradeep Kumar Rai—both seasoned members of the bar. Aggarwala, a past SCBA President himself, is also associated with the International Council of Jurists and the All India Bar Association, while Rai, a former SCBA Vice President, is known for his active engagement in bar affairs.
The 2025 SCBA elections were held under the supervision of an Election Committee comprising Senior Advocates Jitendra Mohan Sharma, Vijay Hansaria, and Mahalakshmi Pavani, following directions from the Supreme Court. The counting of votes and declaration of results were completed by May 20.

In a significant move toward gender representation, the Supreme Court had ordered that the post of SCBA Secretary be reserved for women in the 2025 elections. Additionally, one-third of the seats in the Executive Committee (3 out of 9) and Senior Executive Members (2 out of 6) were reserved for women candidates.
This year’s elections were conducted based on the voter list finalized for the 2024 elections, with the addition of eligible members up to February 28, 2025.
