High Court Halts Demolition of Silver Line Apartment, LDA Ordered to Respond in Four Weeks

In a significant ruling, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has issued an interim stay on the demolition orders for Silver Line Apartment, located opposite BBD University. The bench, comprising Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Om Prakash Shukla, responded to petitions filed by several residents of the apartment.

Residents Pankaj Mathur, Rishi Raj Shankar, Jitendra Bahadur Khare, Vivek Mishra, Sachindra Kumar Srivastava, and Vandana Bhardwaj, represented by their lawyers, informed the court that the apartment has been their longstanding home where they reside with their families. They contested the sudden issuance of a demolition notice by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), which demanded the apartment be vacated within 15 days.

Acknowledging the urgency of the matter, the court has given LDA four weeks to file a response. Additionally, the petitioners will be allowed two weeks to reply following LDA’s response. Until then, any action by the LDA regarding the demolition is on hold, ensuring no immediate displacement of the apartment’s residents.
