In a significant legal victory, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan has been granted relief by the Rouse Avenue Court, which declined to take cognizance of the supplementary charge sheet filed against him in a money laundering case. The court ordered his release, marking a crucial turn in the ongoing Waqf Board scandal case.
The court stated that although there were sufficient grounds to prosecute Khan, the necessary approval for prosecution was not granted, leading to the rejection of taking cognizance of the charges. The Rouse Avenue Court further ordered that Khan be released immediately on a bail bond of ₹1 lakh along with a surety of the same amount.
This development comes just ahead of the upcoming Delhi Legislative Assembly elections next year, positioning it as a major relief for Khan, who represents the Okhla constituency. Khan had been arrested in connection with alleged money laundering related to a scam in the Delhi Waqf Board.
