Allahabad High Court Postpones Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah Hearing

The Allahabad High Court has rescheduled a pivotal hearing in the ongoing Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute due to the unavailability of the presiding court. Justice Ram Manohar Narain Mishra, who was set to oversee the proceedings, announced the cancellation. Originally slated for 2 pm on Wednesday, the new date for the hearing will be determined in line with court procedures.

This case involves a claim by petitioners that the Shahi Masjid Idgah was built over part of the 13.37-acre land owned by the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust. The high court had previously decided to consolidate all related suits, a move prompted by a transfer application filed by Bhagwan Shrikrishna Virajman through next friend, Ranjana Agnihotri, among others.

In a recent directive, the Supreme Court urged the high court to first identify and understand the specific aspects of the suits it plans to consolidate, highlighting the importance of clarity in legal proceedings. “Let’s first get a list at least, let’s at least know what the contours are,” remarked the apex court during a July session, stressing the need to avoid protracted and multiple proceedings which do not benefit any party involved.
