Delhi Court to Review Charges Against Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav in Land-for-Jobs Scandal

A significant development is set to unfold in the judiciary as a Delhi court prepares to take cognisance of a supplementary charge sheet filed against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his son Tejashwi Yadav, and eight others. The charges are connected to the alleged land-for-jobs scam, which involved purported irregularities during Lalu Prasad’s tenure from 2004 to 2009. The court has scheduled the hearing for September 13.

Special Judge Vishal Gogne has marked the date for further proceedings after concluding that no additional clarifications were needed from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which submitted its final report on August 6. The investigation by the ED was initiated following a First Information Report (FIR) by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The allegations focus on appointments made to Group-D positions within the West Central Zone of the railways, based in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. According to the ED, these positions were allegedly granted in exchange for land parcels that were gifted or transferred to the names of Lalu Prasad’s family members or associates.
