Jharkhand High Court Summons Top Police Officials Over Rising Crime in Ranch

In a decisive move, the Jharkhand High Court on Monday issued orders for the Director General of Police (DGP), Anurag Gupta, and Ranchi’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Chandan Kumar Sinha, to present themselves before the court. The summons demands an explanation of the measures being implemented to address the escalating crime rates in Ranchi, the state’s capital.

The directive from the division bench, led by Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad and Justice Arun Kumar Rai, follows closely on the heels of two high-profile murders—that of an advocate in the Ranchi district court and a special branch police officer, Anupam Kachhap.
