Delhi High Court Orders Ramdev to Remove Social Media Posts on Coronil

The Delhi High Court has mandated yoga guru Ramdev to remove specific social media posts concerning the promotion of “Coronil” as a COVID-19 treatment. The order, issued by Justice Anup Jairam Bhambhani, came in response to a plea filed by various doctors’ associations challenging the claims made about the herbal product.

The court’s directive specifies that Ramdev must take down the controversial tweets within three days. This decision supports the allegations of several prestigious medical bodies, including the Resident Doctors’ Association from AIIMS branches in Rishikesh, Patna, and Bhubaneswar, as well as associations from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research in Chandigarh, the Union of Resident Doctors of Punjab, the Resident Doctorsโ€™ Association at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, and the Telangana Junior Doctorsโ€™ Association in Hyderabad.

These medical groups initiated legal action against Ramdev in 2021, objecting to his promotion of Coronil as a cure for COVID-19. They argued that such claims were misleading and lacked scientific backing, potentially endangering public health.
