Swati Maliwal Records Statement on Alleged Assault by Kejriwal’s PA at Tis Hazari Court

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal appeared at Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court on Friday to formally record her statement regarding an alleged assault by Arvind Kejriwal’s Personal Assistant, Bibhav Kumar. This follows her claims of being attacked at the Chief Minister’s residence just three days prior. Maliwal took to social media platform X to share her ordeal, stating, “What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that appropriate action will be taken.”

Maliwal’s distress was evident as she thanked her supporters and addressed her detractors, “Those who tried to assassinate my character, said she was doing it on the instructions of the other party, may God keep them happy too.”

According to Maliwal, during the incident, Bibhav Kumar allegedly slapped her, kicked her, beat her with a stick, and punched her in the stomach and chest, leading to internal injuries on her face, as confirmed by a medical examination.

The assault reportedly took place while Chief Minister Kejriwal was present in the house, a claim that adds a severe complication to the case. Following the assault, Maliwal remained incommunicado for two days, during which she made desperate calls to the police from Kejriwal’s residence but initially did not file a formal complaint. The party has stated that it is looking into her complaints, with senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh visiting her subsequently.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has actively intervened, summoning Bibhav Kumar to appear before it. NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma noted that Kumar failed to meet the initial deadline and announced that an NCW team might visit his residence if he does not comply by Saturday. Kumar was last seen at Lucknow airport with Kejriwal and Sanjay Singh, while Kejriwal proceeded to Punjab for election campaigning on Friday.
