BJP MP Manoj Tiwari has got relief from Delhi High Court. The High Court has stayed the proceedings of the trial court in the criminal defamation case filed by former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia against Manoj Tiwari.
Manish Sisodia has filed a criminal defamation case against Manoj Tiwari, Vijender Gupta, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Harish Khurana, Hansraj Hans and Pravesh Verma. On November 28, 2019, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court had issued summons against six leaders including Tiwari in this case.
Sisodia’s petition states that six leaders, including Manoj Tiwari, have made false allegations of corruption in the construction of classrooms in government schools in Delhi. Sisodia has said that these leaders tried to tarnish our image by making false allegations in print, electronic and social media.
It has been said in the petition that these leaders had alleged that corruption of two thousand crore rupees has been done in the construction of classrooms of government schools in Delhi.
Manoj Tiwari had accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia of corruption in a press conference on July 1, 2019, citing an RTI. Manoj Tiwari had said that an additional expenditure of Rs 2,000 crore was spent on the construction of classrooms which could have been built for Rs 892 crore.
Tiwari had alleged that 34 contractors, including relatives of some ministers, were given contracts for the work. Tiwari demanded the resignation of Kejriwal and Sisodia. Sisodia had also sent legal notices to these leaders to withdraw their statements regarding this.
