81 Advocates Designated as Senior Advocates at the High Court of Calcutta

The notification, issued today, follows a Full Court Meeting held on November 21, 2024, presided over by the Hon’ble Chief Justice and other judges. This marks a historic moment as the designation of Senior Advocates had not been carried out for over eight years.

The decision was made under the authority of Section 16(2) of the Advocates Act, 1961, along with the Designation of Senior Advocate Rules, 2023. The selection process considered the merit, academic distinction, conduct, and contributions of the applicants to the legal profession.
