Recently, the Bombay High Court (Aurangabad Bench) enhanced the compensation awarded to the deceased truck driver’s family under the Employees’ Compensation Act of 1923 after placing reliance on the oral testimony of the wife. The Bench of Justice SG Dige ruled that the labour court wrongly discarded the wife’s evidence in absence of a slip.
