On Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court has directed the health authorities of the UP Government to place before it a report with respect to the treatment given to sitting Judge of High Court Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava, who succumbed to COVID-19 in the last week.
Justice Srivastava was initially admitted at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital Lucknow, and thereafter shifted to SGPGI Lucknow where he took his last breath. The Bench was informed by the Lawyers that there are reports that patients admitted in RML Hospital are not given good care.
The Bench was also informed that Justice VK Srivastava was also not attended properly and due to which his condition deteriorated and ultimately he was placed on ventilator.Thereafter he was shifted to SGPGI Lucknow, where he was admitted in ICU for 5 days and thereafter ultimately lost his life to COVID19.
In view of the above the Court directed that the AAG shall file and affidavit before the Court
“bringing on record the treatment given to late Justice V.K. Srivastava at RML hospital Lucknow and it will also be explained why he was not taken immediately to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, immediately in the morning on 23rd April, 2021.”
