The Road Transport and Highways Ministry have extended the validity of documents such as permits, driving licenses and registrations under Motor Vehicles laws that have expired since 1st February 2020.
The Ministry has issued an advisory wherein it has asked all Union Territories and States to treat such documents valid 30.06.2021. It further added that such documents that would expire by 30.06.2021 would be deemed valid till the said date.
Documents that will be covered are Permits (all types), Driving Licences, Fitness Certificates and Registrations or other documents that come under the Motor Vehicles Act and Central Motor Vehicles Rules.
This decision was taken due to the pandemic situation and to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The Centre has asked all UTs and States to implement this advisory in spirit and letter, so transporters, citizens, and other organisations working during the pandemic should not be unnecessarily harassed.
The Ministry had issued advisories on 30.03.2020, 09.06.2020, 24.08.2020 and 27.12.2020 concerning the extension of validity of these documents till 31.03.2021.
