Tamil Nadu Minister Udayanidhi Stalin Secures Bail After Controversial Remarks on Sanatana Dharma

Udayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and son of the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, was granted bail by a city court on Tuesday. This follows his controversial statement about eradicating ‘Sanatana Dharma,’ which he equated with diseases like malaria and dengue in terms of eradication. His comments, made during a conference in Chennai in September 2023, sparked widespread backlash.

The bail was set with a surety of Rs one lakh, coming after a petition led by social activist Paramesh triggered legal action. Udayanidhi Stalin appeared before the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in response to a notice concerning his remarks.
