Supreme Court Round-Up for Tuesday

Important cases heard by Supreme Court on Tuesday, Sep 5:

* SC reserved its verdict on a batch of pleas challenging the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution which bestowed special status on the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

* National Conference leader Mohd Akbar Lone filed an affidavit in SC, asserting he reiterates the oath taken while being sworn in as an MP to preserve and uphold the provisions of the Constitution of India and to protect the country’s territorial integrity.

* SC adjourned for a week the hearing on a plea filed by former JNU student Umar Khalid seeking bail in a case lodged under anti-terror law UAPA over his alleged involvement in the conspiracy behind the northeast Delhi riots of February 2020. PTI ABA
