The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of three High Court Chief Justices as judges of the Supreme Court.
The recommendations were made at the Collegium meeting held on September 28, 2026.
The three judges recommended for elevation are Justice Sunita Agarwal, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, and Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
Justice Sunita Agarwal
Justice Sunita Agarwal is presently serving as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court. Her parent High Court is the Allahabad High Court.
Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya
Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya is the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court. He also belongs to the Allahabad High Court as his parent High Court.
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh
Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh is currently the Chief Justice of the High Court for the State of Telangana. His parent High Court is the Jharkhand High Court.
The Collegium statement records that all three Chief Justices have been recommended for appointment as judges of the Supreme Court.
