Strike by Allahabad High Court Lawyers over Justice Yashwant Varma Matter Ends; Judicial Work to Resume from April 1

Prayagraj, March 29, 2025 (Saturday): An emergency meeting of the Executive Committee of the High Court Bar Association, Allahabad, was held today at 4 PM in the Bar Auditorium. The meeting was chaired by Association President and Senior Advocate Mr. Anil Tiwari, and conducted by General Secretary Mr. Vikrant Pandey. Several former office-bearers and senior advocates also attended the meeting along with current executive members.

In a unanimous decision, the committee resolved to suspend the earlier decision to abstain from judicial work until the report of the inquiry into the matter involving Hon’ble Justice Yashwant Varma is received. Further action will be decided based on the contents of the report. It was also decided that regular judicial work will resume from Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Keeping in mind the convenience of litigants and lawyers, a proposal was also passed to set up a Photo Identification Center to further streamline judicial processes.

A significant resolution was passed to give the movement a national dimension. A national-level press conference will be organized in Prayagraj on April 26 and 27, 2025, to intensify the movement and seek support from High Court Bar Associations across the country.

Present at the meeting were Senior Vice President Rajesh Khare, Vice Presidents Agnihotri Kumar Tripathi, Akhilesh Kumar Mishra, Subhash Chandra Yadav, Neeraj Tripathi, Mrs. Neelam Shukla, all office-bearers and executive members, along with senior advocates T.P. Singh, Ashok Mehta, Rahul Shripat, Mukesh Prasad, and former General Secretary Veer Singh.
