Section 498A IPC Not Applicable to Woman’s Partner In Live-In Relationship: Kerala High Court

The Kerala High Court, in a significant ruling on July 8, 2024, quashed criminal proceedings against a man accused of cruelty in a live-in relationship, stating that Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) does not apply to such relationships. The judgment was delivered by Justice A. Badharudeen in Criminal Miscellaneous Case No. 2654
