The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) announced on November 20 the availability of new computer facilities within the Supreme Court Complex Library, specifically designed to support SCBA members during virtual hearings. This initiative comes as a strategic response to facilitate ongoing legal proceedings amidst the challenges posed by deteriorating air quality in Delhi.
According to the SCBA’s latest circular, a total of 16 computers have been set up for the exclusive use of its members who are participating in virtual hearings. The association emphasized the importance of using these facilities solely for virtual hearings to ensure that all members have access as needed. After completing a hearing, members are encouraged to make the computers available for others.
This development follows Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna’s remarks on November 19, highlighting the option for lawyers to appear online, thereby addressing the environmental concerns affecting the region.
In addition to the new computer facilities, the SCBA notice also mentioned that the library and gym located in block D of the Supreme Court Building Complex are now fully operational, further enhancing the amenities available to its members.
