New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium, in a meeting held on August 19, 2025, has recommended the appointment of two Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court as Permanent Judges. 11 The Collegium also resolved to recommend the extension of the term of another Additional Judge for a fresh period of one year.
The proposal approved by the Collegium concerns the appointments of Shri Justice Budi Habung and Shri Justice N. Unni Krishnan Nair, who are currently serving as Additional Judges, for the position of Permanent Judges in the Gauhati High Court. 2222
Further, the Collegium has resolved to recommend that Shri Justice Kaushik Goswami, who is also an Additional Judge, be appointed as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court for a fresh term. 3
The resolution specifies that the proposed new term for Justice Goswami would be for a period of one year, commencing from November 10, 2025. 4 The recommendations have been forwarded to the Central Government for further action.
