Rajasthan High Court Demands Update on Search for Missing Man in Nahargarh Hills

The Rajasthan High Court has called for a progress report from the state police concerning the ongoing search for 21-year-old Rahul Parashar, who disappeared in the Nahargarh hills on September 1. Rahul and his younger brother Ashish were last seen near Charan Mandir in Nahargarh. While Ashish’s body was recovered on September 2, there has been no trace of Rahul since.

The boys’ father, Suresh Parashar, filed a habeas corpus petition over the weekend, prompting the court’s intervention. A division bench consisting of Justice Inderjeet Singh and Justice Bhuwan Goyal reviewed the petition and has directed the Director General of Police and other state officials to provide a detailed report on the search efforts.

Girraj Prasad Sharma, the family’s legal representative, shared that the next court hearing is scheduled for September 20. Meanwhile, police have described extensive but unsuccessful search operations involving local police teams, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Defence personnel, and local volunteers. Additional DCP North Bajrang Singh detailed the deployment of a dog squad, mining experts to search the gorges, and even a helicopter to aid in the search.*

“The forest has become denser due to the monsoon, which complicates the search efforts, but we have covered the majority of the area,” explained Singh. The police remain committed to their exhaustive search despite the challenging conditions.
