Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Rajasthan High Court, emphasized the judiciary’s role in maintaining vigilance and activity on national issues, advocating for a justice system that is simple and straightforward.
During his address in Jodhpur, Modi highlighted historical decisions like the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir as milestones in India’s integration and pointed to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as a testament to the nation’s commitment to humanitarian values. He praised the judiciary’s clear stance on these issues, reinforcing the ideology of ‘nation first.’
Reflecting on the history of the Rajasthan High Court, the Prime Minister credited its foundation to the efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in uniting various princely states under one judicial system. “National unity is the foundational stone of India’s judicial system, and strengthening it will further solidify the nation and its systems,” Modi stated.
Modi underscored the necessity of demystifying the judicial process. “Justice should be simple and lucid, but often procedures complicate it. We must collectively strive to simplify our justice system,” he asserted. His comments also covered the significant legal reforms undertaken, including the repeal of outdated colonial laws and the adoption of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which he claimed has freed Indian democracy from the remnants of colonial rule.
Addressing India’s economic growth and technological advancements, Modi noted that India has ascended from being the 10th largest economy to the 5th within a decade. He pointed out the transformative role technology has played in the judicial realm, with the computerization of over 18,000 courts and the accessibility of court documents via the National Judicial Data Grid.
The Prime Minister also touched upon the increasing relevance of Alternative Dispute Resolution in achieving cost-effective and expedited justice, contributing to both ease of living and judicial efficiency.

The event saw participation from other notable figures, including Union Minister of State for Law, Arjun Ram Meghwal, who highlighted the Supreme Court’s efforts in making judgments accessible in regional languages. Justice Sanjiv Khanna of the Supreme Court, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, and Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court, Manindra Mohan Srivastava, were among the other dignitaries who addressed the gathering.
