Orissa High Court Shuts Down for Two Days Due to Cyclone Dana

The Orissa High Court has announced a temporary closure on Thursday and Friday in anticipation of the cyclonic storm Dana, which is expected to hit parts of Odisha soon. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Cyclone Dana is forecasted to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port by Friday morning, carrying wind speeds that could exceed 120 kmph.

The court’s registrar (judicial) released a notification on Wednesday stating, “In view of the upcoming natural calamity, severe cyclonic storm Dana, the functioning of the court and offices of the high court shall remain closed on October 24 & 25.” This decision aims to ensure the safety of court staff and the general public amidst the severe weather conditions.

Additionally, the High Court has rescheduled its calendar, designating November 30 and December 7, both Saturdays, as working days to compensate for the disruptions.
