This Saturday, the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), in collaboration with the Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA), is set to host a significant event in Kevadia town, Narmada district, Gujarat. The western regional conference will not only commemorate NALSA’s three decades of dedication to justice for the underprivileged but also launch several key initiatives aimed at promoting an inclusive legal system.
Supreme Court Justices B R Gavai and Surya Kant are scheduled to attend the event, which promises to bolster NALSA’s long-standing vision of ensuring accessible justice. The conference will see the introduction of the NALSA (JAGRITI) scheme—Justice Awareness for Grassroots Rural Information and Transparency Initiative. This program is designed to enhance legal awareness at the grassroots level, providing critical knowledge and support to the rural populace.
Additionally, NALSA will launch the Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation (DAWN), a scheme aimed at combating drug abuse and steering India towards being a drug-free nation. Another pivotal launch will be the NALSA Strengthening Access to Justice for Marginalised, Vulnerable Adivasis, and Denotified/Nomadic Tribes scheme (SAMVAD), focusing on enhancing legal access for some of the most vulnerable sections of society.

The event will also feature the premiere of a three-part documentary series that traces NALSA’s journey from its inception to its current role in the legal landscape, highlighting both ongoing initiatives and its long-term objectives. In line with promoting awareness on important legal matters, the conference will unveil ‘Speak Up’, a handbook on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, designed to educate and empower stakeholders on handling and preventing sexual harassment at the workplace.
