Meghalaya, Patna High Courts Get New Chief Justices; Center Notifies Appointments

The President of India has appointed new Chief Justices to the Meghalaya High Court and the Patna High Court, exercising powers under the Constitution in consultation with the Chief Justice of India.

Justice Revati Prashant Mohite Dere, currently serving as a judge of the Bombay High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court. Her appointment follows the transfer of the incumbent Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

In a separate appointment, Justice Sangam Kumar Sahoo, who is presently a judge of the Orissa High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.

The appointments were formally notified by the Union Law Minister, Arjun Ram Meghwal, through an official communication, confirming that the decisions were taken in accordance with constitutional procedure and after due consultation with the Chief Justice of India.

Both appointments are part of the routine judicial administration process aimed at filling leadership positions in High Courts and ensuring their effective functioning.
