Magistrates Lack Power to extend time to complete investigations in UAPA cases: Supreme Court

Recently, the Supreme Court has ruled that Magistrates would not be competent to extend the time to complete investigations in UAPA cases. A bench of Justices UU Lalit, S Ravindra Bhat and Belam M Trivedi has ruled that the only competent authority to consider such requests will be the Court as specified in Section 43D
