Magistrate Can Direct Voice Sample Collection of Accused: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court recently uphled the Gujarat High Court’s ruling, which denied interference in the session judge’s order directing the accused to provide a voice sample to the police.  According to the apex court, a Magistrate is empowered to order the collection of a voice sample for investigative purposes until the Parliament enshrines explicit provisions
