In a significant development for the judiciary in Kerala, five new additional judges were officially sworn into office today at the Kerala High Court, marking a historical milestone as the court’s bench strength reaches 45 judges for the first time. The ceremony took place under the guidance of the Hon’ble Chief Justice Nitin Jamdar.
The newly appointed judges are:
– Shri Paramesara Panicker Krishna Kumar
– Shri Kodassery Veliyath Madom Jayakumar
– Shri Muralee Krishna Shankaramoole
– Shri Jobin Sebastian
– Shri Pandikkaran Varadaraja Iyer Balakrishnan
These appointments follow the recent notification by the Central Government and reflect the ongoing efforts to bolster the judicial capacity of the High Court to expedite the handling of cases and improve the administration of justice.
Previously, the Kerala High Court operated with a sanctioned strength of 47 judges, comprising 35 permanent judges including the Chief Justice and 12 Additional Judges. The addition of these five distinguished legal minds brings the number of permanent judges to 30, including the Chief Justice, complemented by 15 Additional Judges.
