Karnataka High Court Rules: Delays in Magistrate’s Cognizance of Complaints without Malafide to be Excluded in Limitation Period Calculation

In a recent ruling, the Karnataka High Court has affirmed the legitimacy of proceedings initiated under section 499 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), commonly known as defamation. The decision came in response to a petition filed by Jagan Chandy, seeking to quash proceedings initiated against him by Jagadish K A under section 499 IPC.
