The Bar Association of Kargil has unanimously resolved to suspend all judicial work from October 1 to October 6, 2025, as a mark of protest and solidarity. The decision comes in response to the deaths of individuals on September 24, 2025, whom the association described as “martyrs” campaigning for the rights of the people of Ladakh.
In a “Solidarity Message” issued on October 1, the Bar Association expressed its “deepest solidarity with the martyrs who laid down their lives on 24-09-2025 while striving for the rights of the people of Ladakh.”

As part of its resolution, the association announced it will “refrain from all judicial work” for the six-day period.

Furthermore, the legal body has committed to providing “free legal assistance to any victim of the recent unfortunate incident that occurred at Leh.” It did not provide specific details on the nature of the incident.
The central demand put forth by the Bar Association is a call for an independent investigation. The letter states that the association “strongly urges the UT Administration to ensure a free, fair, and impartial judicial inquiry into the matter so that justice is served and accountability is upheld.”
The official communication, signed by the President of the Bar Association Kargil, has been formally copied to the Principal District Judge of Kargil and other judicial magistrates and officers in the region.
